One of Junkiri’s first students attended government and private schools for three years after being rescued from prison. Yet she could not even write her own name. After less than two years at Junkiri, she is keeping a diary of her life and now dreams of becoming a Junkiri teacher. An 11 year old boy came to Junkiri after being kicked out of two other schools and sent back to live in jail because he was considered a “bad boy”. After six months at Junkiri, he is an excellent student with an artistic flair, who has designed and created an irrigation system made out of bamboo for the Junkiri student garden.
